About the Instructors
About Theresa Edge
Theresa Edge, born in Fayeteville, NC, started her circus journey at the age of 26 with no background in dance, gymnastics, or any of the physical disciplines customarily seen in this industry. In lieu of a traditional movement background, her passion was in theatre and creative writing. Since her first aerial class she’s been enamored with the potential for storytelling through circus arts. This hunger led her to contemporary circus company “the Nouveau Sud project” and she has since performed in multiple main stage shows, various gigs of all varieties, and teaches workshops/classes. Theresa is also the Assistant Artistic Director of Nouveau Sud and serves on the Social Circus Committee with the American Circus Educators - both in hopes of creating more equity around circus arts.

Her performing repertoire currently consists of fabric, aerial hoop, aerial straps, adagio, and partner/group acrobatics. Theresa has been fortunate enough to travel extensively as a freelance artist for many years but these days if she’s not training you can find her chasing around her two sons in Charlotte, NC.

About Jordan Garcia
Jordan Garcia, born in Nokesville, VA, began his journey in the movement world with the pursuit to become stronger. Starting off in high school weightlifting classes he soon moved towards calisthenics and handbalancing. As he learned more about physical culture he dove into various disciplines including parkour, gymnastics, rock climbing, and others before arriving to circus arts.

After arriving to Charlotte, NC he joined “the Nouveau Sud project” and it was with this group that he began to hone his skills in other disciplinary fields such as aerial straps, adagio, juggling, and partner acrobatics. In addition to performing Jordan is also a reputable coach having taken the steps to continue to learn about the body and exercise sciences. He has traveled nationally and internationally to teach workshops along with instructing a myriad of online students.

Theresa and Jordan met in “the Nouveau Sud project” and have been training together for over six years performing duo aerial acts, adagio acts, and partner/group acrobatic acts. They’re passionate about training, creating, and spreading the philosophy that everyone is capable in achieving success in circus with the right dedication and progression regardless of your starting point. It is their goal to tell meaningful and impactful stories through movement and strive to find ways to make this artform more inclusive and accessible to all.
